In the Dutch daily newspaper Trouw (28 December 2012) I was interviewed in a report on the question whether Asian pop may become truly popular globally, given the appeal of PSY’s Gangnam Style. My answer to that question was a sad no, given the general lack of interest in Asian pop, which is driven by an implicit claim that, when it comes to popular music, the West is the best.
